- I could probably help myself if anyone could find the tech support number
- for Expansion Systems, the company that puts out the DataFlyer XDS for the
- A1200. Barring that, this is my problem.
-
- I finally got the thing to be recognized by HDTools. But to
- do that we had to set the external up as the Master and the Internal up as
- the Slave. But the external master will not boot up on it's own unless the
- internal slave is disconnected. To top it off, on cold start, the machine
- asks for Workbench3.0 with the little Insert-disk anim. With a warm boot,
- the slave takes over and boots up. But once it boots up, the master
- doesn't even mount. You have to go into HDTools, alter the settings on the
- master drive, change them back, and then save to disk, and then the master
- disk drive pops up. It's the stupidest thing I have ever seen.
-
- Plus, the master doesn't even come up with a file system. If you try to
- add it and save it, it says there isn't enough room on the partition to
- save it and that I should delete a partition to make room. Also, if I try
- to "Change Drive Type" it recognizes the external but I have to format the
- entire thing for it too take effect, and I want to pirate all the software
- off it first! :)
-
- The thing still refuses to recognize the external at all if I have the
- internal set to master and the external to slave. Go fig.
-
- The thing is I now really want the machine to boot and run all the good
- stuff off the external as apparantly, it's getting 1.5mb reads where the
- internal is only getting .75mb on the reads. I couldn't tell you about
- writes.
-
- How can I get the external to boot up and the internal to be it's slave,
- besides just setting the jumpers?
-
- External: Maxtor 7245AT IDE 3.5"
- Internal: Maxtor 25128A IDE 2.5"
-
- HELP!!!!!
-
- Thanks in advance.
